- To search out and promulgate useful tools for the profession (e.g. sharp reader, R, curvefit, a new mathematical method etc )
- To suggest how the tools may be used; providing examples and code if possible
- To work on an external wiki (www.toolkit.pbwiki.com) - in an open collaborative way
- To encourage working party members to use [del.ico.us], an RSS aggregator and to blog; with a view to feeding back to GIRO how useful these were over the year
- To encourage a focus on education (in bit sized chunks) as well as research
